Vi har precis börjat att läsa SCUM manifestet (översatt till svenska) av Valerie Solanas, och idag hade vi vår första bokcirkelträff. Det vi skulle diskutera idag var förordet, som i detta exemplar (tryckt 2003) är skrivet av Sara Stridsberg. Det diskuterades om vad förordet har för syfte, hur det är uppbyggt och vissa av citaten. Vi pratade även kring Valerie honsjälvt, manifestets utformning och lite spridda tankar kring hur SCUM påverkat oss (då de flesta närvarande redan hade läst manifestet en eller ett flertal gånger.)

Till nästa bokcirkelträff, som är den 11 december, ska manifestet vara färdigläst. Då ska vi prata mer utförligt om innehållet i själva manifestet. Skriv gärna ner citat, frågor eller rubriker du vill diskutera om! Ser fram emot en intressant diskussion.

 We have just started to read SCUM manifesto (in swedish) by Valerie Solanas, and today we had our first book club-meeting. What to discuss was the preface of the manifesto. In this copy (printed in 2003) it´s written by Sara Stridsberg. We discussed the purpose of the preface, the contruction and some quotes.  We also talked about Valerie herself, the design and a few thoughts about how the manifest has affected us (since most of the people who were attending have already read the manifesto at least once.)

Until the next book club-meeting, in december 11, we all should have finished the manifesto. Then we are going to talk about SCUM more in detail. Please write down quotes, questions or anything you like to discuss! Looking forward to an interesting discussion.
